Blanket (II)

Pendleton Woolen Mills

Established 1863

Founded in 1863 by Thomas L. Kay, Pendleton Woolen Mills is an American textile manufacturing company, best known for its iconic Indian blankets. More than any other manufacturer, Pendleton introduced a lot of new designs, colors, and patterns. The Pendleton blankets were not only basic wearing apparel, but also standards of trading and of ceremonial use.

Trivia: Prior to 1909 the blankets had round corners. Pendleton round corner blankets are highly coveted by vintage Indian blanket collectors.
