Established 1860In the 17th century in Normandy, peasants made fishing nets by hand. In 1860 these workers were organized and Filt was formed as a company. In 1944, the company increased mechanization and began to expand business, making nets for sports, hammocks and the now iconic grocery bag.
This ‘filet a provisions’ was originally made for fishermen. But being extremely strong and expandable, the bag was soon adopted by housewives and grandmothers to carry groceries. Made in cotton of the highest quality, this sustainable bag is available in a rainbow of colours – obviously dyed naturally.
