Mademoiselle (1956), Ilmari Tapiovaara

Yrjö Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999) was a Finnish designer noted for his furnishings and textiles. Designed in 1956, the Mademoiselle chair is a true Finnish design classic. Tapiovaara took his inspiration from traditional spoke chairs and crafted the chair from solid birch. Due to its timeless design, Mademoiselle continues to charm even in the most contemporary interiors. The Mademoiselle is produced by Artek, a company founded in 1935 by amongst others famous architect and designer Alvar Aalto.
