Bicycle repair kit

Simson

Established 1881

Founded in 1881 by Louis Wijnberg as a glue factory, Simson today makes the most iconic bicycle repair kit. Wijnberg invented a vulcanizing solution suitable for bicycle tube repair. He marketed the vulcanizing solution under the brand Simson, named after the biblical strongman.

In 1989, Simson was taken over by Stahlgruber who sold repair kits on the German market under the Tip Top name. Since 2008 the company was renamed Rema Tip Top in 2008 and production shifted to Veenendaal, The Netherlands. To this day, Simson, with its iconic red and black box, still outsells the Tip Top brand.
