Rowenta

Established 1884

Founded in 1884 by Robert Weintraud as a manufacturer of office supplies and smoking accessories, Rowenta is a manufacturer of small household appliances, mostly known for its clothes irons. In 1909, Weintraud began trading under the brand name Rowenta, an acronym of the company’s full name, Robert Weintraud GmbH & Co KG.

Rowenta grows quickly thanks to its high-quality products and numerous innovations, such as the first electric iron (1919), the first iron with a thermostat (1949) and the first steam iron (1957). In 1988, Rowenta was taken over by the French Groupe SEB.
