USM Modular Furniture
Established 1885Founded in 1885 by Ulrich Schaerer, USM Modular Furniture is a manufacturer of modular furniture for the home and office. Designed by Paul Schaerer, grandson of USM founder Ulrich Schaerer, and architect Fritz Haller in 1963, the company’s most iconic product line is USM Haller. This pioneering furniture product was intended for the company’s open-plan offices, but grew out to become their signature product. USM Haller is widely regarded as a design classic and included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
