Amazon Kindle (2007)

First launched in 2007 and sold out in five-and-a-half hours, the Amazon Kindle is the world’s most iconic e-reader. Designed and marketed by Amazon.com, the Kindle enables users to browse, buy, download and read e-books and other digital media. The Kindle wasn’t the first e-reader, but it did create a demand. It essentially did for digital reading what the iPod did for digital music.

Why on Wikiconic?
Demand creating.
