Hiking boots

Danner

Established 1932

Founded in 1932 by Charles Danner, The Danner Shoe Mfg. Company started out as a manufacturer of handcrafted work boots. By the end of World War II, the company had built a name for itself making a logger style boot known as the ‘Shipyard Boot’. Worn by men who did heavy labour in the woods or at the docks, these boots were virtually indestructible. In the 1960s, when outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing became quite popular, Danner began making hiking boots. Light and flexible, yet sturdy and very comfortable, the Danner Mountain Trail Boot was recognized as being the most ideal hiking boot and became the benchmark in the hinking boot category to this day.
