Kickstool

WEDO (Werner Dorsch GmbH)

Established 1933

Founded in 1933 by Werner Dorsch as a small retail shop for writing instruments in Frankfurt, WEDO now is an important player on the national and international office product market. The brand name WEDO was registered in 1950. Still fully owned by the Dorsch family, the company now is headquarters in Dieburg and exports into more than 30 countries worldwide.

One of their classic products is the kickstool (or Rollhocker in German), a circular stool with small wheels used in offices or stores to reach high shelves. The wheels of this handy object are made inoperative when a person stands on it. Manufactured from powder coated steel, the WEDO kickstool is a true icon of ‘Deutsche Gründlichkeit’ and is part of the collection of the Berlin Museum der Dinge, where it represents the industrialized material culture in the 20th century.

Why on Wikiconic?
Heritage, quality.
