Stabilo Boss (1971)

Founded in 1855 as Grossberger & Kurz Bleistiftfabrik, Schwan-Stabilo is the world’s largest manufacturer of highlighter pens. In 1865, the company was purchased by the Schwanhäusser family and was renamed Schwan Bleistift Fabrik. One of the first innovations was the Dermatograph cosmestic pen in 1909, which was used by surgeons for marking skin.

Launched in 1971, the iconic Stabilo Boss is Schwan’s most well known product. This refillable highlighter pen is available in 9 fluorescent colours and can be left unopened for over four hours. In 1976, the company rebranded itself to Schwan-Stabilo.
