Moon boots

Tecnica Group S.P.A.

Established 1960

Founded in 1960 by Oreste Zanatta, who first ran a small workshop, Calzaturificio Tecnica S.P.A. focused primarily on the production of work-boots. With the growing of ski trend in Italy, Tecnica directs its activity towards the winter sports market.

In 1969 they gained major international success with the Moon Boot, an after-ski boot inspired on boots worn by the Apollo astronauts who first set foot on the Moon. The boot is constructed with a thin rubber outsole and cellular rubber midsole covered by colorful Nylon fabrics and using polyurethane foams. The design of the original Moon Boots has not changed since its inception.
