Pruning shears (bypass)

Felco

Established 1945

Bypass pruners use a scissors action to pass next to the lower surface, sometimes called the hook, designed to catch and hold the branch while the cutting blade comes down.

Founded in 1945 by Félix Flisch, Felco SA is the world’s leading manufacturer of garden secateurs. Félix Flisch set himself an ambitious goal: he wanted to create the best pruning shears the world. Where pruning shears had until then been but one of many agricultural tools, Flisch made them a tool of the utmost quality and constantly improved the comfort and efficiency of his product. The Felco 2  (as pictured above) is his most iconic design. It is almost unchanged 70 years later and is the weapon of choice by most winemakers at vineyards. Three core principles contributed to the success of the shears: the Felco 2 is ergonomic, durable and all parts are interchangeable. This is how you make an icon.

Why on Wikiconic?
Design, quality.
