606 Universal Shelving System (1960), Dieter Rams

Founded in 1959 by Niels Wiese Vitsœ, Vitsœ is a furniture company that manufactures and retails furniture designed by Dieter Rams. Dieter Rams is one of the greatest German industrial designers and is closely associated with the consumer products company Braun and the Functionalist school of industrial design.

Designed in 1960, Ram’s most iconic product for Vitsœ is the 606 Universal Shelving System. This modular system is based on vertical posts were you can hang shelves, cabinets, panels and desks onto it. The system can be wall-mounted or compressed between the floor and ceiling. The 606 Universal Shelving System is part of the collection of MoMA New York.
