Gitzo

Established 1917

Founded in 1917 by Arsène Gitzhoven, Gitzo S.A. is a manufacturer of photographic accessories, specialized in tripods and supports. Gitzo started out as a manufacturer of cameras, shutters, and cable releases. During the 1950s, when Gitzhoven’s daughter, Yvonne Plieger, took over the company, tripods were introduced into their product range and eventually grew out to be the core of her business. In 1992, Gitzo became part of the Vitec group, which also owns Manfrotto, another big name in the tripod business.
