Weightlifting equipment

Eleiko

Established 1957

The history of Eleiko began in 1957 in a small factory in Halmstad that manufactured electrical equipment. Being fervently interested in weightlifting, Mr Hellström, who worked on assembling waffle irons, experimented with a new weightlifting bar. He wanted to tackle the problem of weightlifting bars breaking all the time during competition. Hellström made a bar of a special, hardened kind of steel and gave the knurling of the bar a waffle pattern.

The Eleiko bar was introduced in 1963 and it immediately revolutionized the world of weightlifting: the bar could last an entire competition without bending or cracking. Since that day the Eleiko brand has set a new standard and is used on the world’s largest championships. Over a 1,000 world records have been made with Eleiko weights.
