Vilebrequin

Established 1971

Founded in 1971 in Saint Tropez by automobile journalist Fred Prysquel, Vilebrequin is a fashion brand specialized in swimwear and beachwear. Because of his passion for automobiles, Prysquel named his brand Vilebrequin, the French word for crankshaft (the main part of an engine).

Villebrequin most iconic suit is the Moorea, a boxer-short that was longer than the fitted swimsuits of that period. Inspired by the swimsuits of surfers and designed from spinnaker cloth, this new swimsuit was bright, original and designed to dry quickly in the sun.
