Esky

Established 1952

Created in 1952 by Malley’s, a Sydney refrigeration business, Esky is an Australian brand of portable coolers. The Esky was recognised as the first official portable cooler in the world. In Australia the term Esky has become a generalized trademark for portable coolers or ice boxes, regardless of the brand. The Esky has played a unique role in Australian culture with regard to outdoor activities, camping and sporting events. In 2009, outdoor recreation company Coleman bought the Esky brand and still produces most of the Esky line in Melbourne.
