Established 1911Founded in 1911, The Wahl Clipper Corporation, based in Sterling, Illinois, manufactures grooming products for people and animals. It al began when Leo J. Wahl experimented with a vibrating electromagnetic motor. Later as an engineering student at the University of Illinois, Leo Wahl designed a vibrating medical massager and spent his spare time selling these massagers to barbershops – where he recognized the need to improve barber tools. Leo Wahl began experimenting and filed patent for the first electromagnetic hair clipper in 1919.
Since that day, Wahl Clipper Corporation has been the leader in the professional and home grooming category. Still headquartered in Sterling, Illinois, and run by a member of the Wahl family, Wahl carries forward the tradition of innovation and great customer service that was created by Leo J. Wahl.
