Hair cream

Brylcreem

Established 1928

Created in 1928 by County Chemicals, Brylcreem is a hair pomade, made out of an emulsion of water and mineral oil, stabilized with beeswax. Until 1992, Brylcreem was owned by Beecham but the rights to sell the Brylcreem brand are now Unilever’s. Brylcreem is an icon because of its roots in cultural history. Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, was an avid Brylcreem user. As were most of the Royal Airforce pilots, who were even nicknamed ‘Brylcreem Boys’ because of their conspicuous use of the hair cream. References in movies and television series are plenty, where many of them refer to the famous Brylcreem slogan: A Little Dab’ll Do Ya!
