Okatsune
Established 1940Founded in 1940 by blacksmith Tsuneichi Okano, Okatsune (an acronym of the founder’s name) is the undisputed number 1 shears manufacturer in Japan. Okatsune’s product range currently consists of pruning shears, cutting and harvesting shears, hedge shears, Bonsai scissors, and Ikebana scissors for traditional Japanese floral arrangements.
Okatsune’s razor-sharp shears are uniquely forged from the best Izumo Yasugi steel, which is traditionally used for Samurai swords. Using an innovative tempering process, Okatsune produces shears that have a Rockwell hardness of 60.0 to 61.0, which is unrivaled by other brands. The iconic red and white handles, a Japanese symbol of happiness, make these shears a must have for the discerning gardener.
