Established 1948Proraso was founded in 1908 by Ludovico Martelli as a cosmetics company under his own name. His son Piero joined the company in 1948 and introduced a ‘crema miracolosa’ under the Proraso brand name – a miracle cream that could be used both before and after shaving. After years of dedicated research, finally a product was there that exceeded the high expectations of Italian men. Sixty years later the company is still run by the Martelli family.
The British brands Truefitt & Hill, Geo F. Trumpers, D.R. Harris as well as Taylor of Old Bond Street all produce great shaving creams with a variety of different fragrances, but when you think wet shaving, you have to think Proraso with their iconic green and white barber pole stripes. Developed with natural ingredients and with no animal products, Proraso shaving cream is one of the best known and most popular of all time. For eighty years Proraso has guarded its secret formula based on eucalyptus oil and their old world barbershop products have been exceptional in scent, performance, and looks.
