Spectrum
Sofa BR 02.7 (1958), Martin VisserFounded in 1941, Spectrum is one of the oldest Dutch furniture companies still existing. The collection includes design classics from Martin Visser, Gerrit Rietveld and Constant Nieuwenhuijs, all from around 1960, and some newer items by Dutch designers.
Martin Visser (1922-2009) studied Civil Engineering and worked as an architectural draughtsman, designing his first furniture for a friend. In 1954 he and was asked by Spectrum to work for them as designer and head of collection. His most iconic piece is the sofa BR 02.7, designed in 1958 and in production ever since. Made of matt chrome-plated metal, the frame makes its possible to convert the sofa into a sofa bed with one simple movement. The BR 02.7 is by far the most beautiful and most practical sofa bed in the market.
