Zenith

El Primero A386 (1969)

Founded in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, Zenith is a Swiss luxury watchmaker. Zenith is one of a handful of watch manufacturers that still produce their own movements in-house. In 1999 Zenith became part of the LVMH group.

First released in 1969, and still produced today, the iconic El Primero calibre was one of the first automatic chronograph movements. The tri-color dial of the first El Primero, the A386, has since become Zenith’s trademark dial configuration. The A386 is something of a cult classic, as Zenith themselves say no more than 2000 examples were ever produced.
