Water kettle

Sori Yanagi Design

Water kettle (1994), Sori Yanagi

Sori Yanagi (1915–2011) was a famous Japanese product designer. The water kettle is one of his most iconic designs. He designed the first edition in 1953, gave it a ‘facelift’ in 1994 and also found a way to produce it.

Elegant in its design and solid in construction, the kettle is simple, functional and boils water quickly. The kettle is Yanagi’s best-selling design in his homeland with more than half a million kettles sold yearly in Japan alone. It was also the recipient of Japan’s Good Design Award in 1998 for exceptional design and functionality.
