Round Chair One aka 'The Chair' (1949), Hans J. Wegner

Hans Wegner (1914-2007) was a famous Danish furniture designer, who contributed to the popularity of mid-century Danish design. He designed over 500 different chairs, many of which have become real design icons.

Designed in 1949, the Round Chair is absolutely one of his most important works. The Round Chair is seen as the main force in the great international breakthrough of Danish Modern. The chair is now made by PP Møbler as models PP501 (in cane) and PP503 (with upholstered seat).

Trivia:
* When John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon met in the televised election debate in 1960, both presidential candidates sat in the Round Chair during the debate;
* the Americans came up with a new and more telling name, they call it ‘The Chair’.
