Valstarino (1935)

Founded in 1911, after doing business under the name English Fashion Waterproof, Valstar was the first Italian manufacturer of rainwear, known for its high quality trimmings and finishing. Designed in 1935, their most iconic piece is the Valstarino, a take on the classic A-1 pilot jacket with a button front and stand-up, knitted collar. The A-1 was originally a military flight jacket worn by American fighter pilots. Today, the Valstarino is considered an icon of Italian design and has featured in numerous design exhibitions.

Why on Wikiconic?
