Baby carrier

Babybjörn

Established 1961

Founded in 1961 by Björn Jakobson, Babybjörn is a Swedish manufacturer of baby products, best known for its baby carriers. In the early 1970s, medical experts concluded the importance of physical closeness between parents and their babies. Björn Jakobson was inspired by this research and began working on a product that could facilitate this closeness. In 1973, he launched his first baby carrier, ‘Hjärtenära’, which translates into ‘close to the heart’.

In 1990 sales took off when Harper’s Bazaar published a picture of a model model wearing a Babybjörn baby carrier. Over the years Babybjörn has received numerous awards for its designs.
