Bialetti Industrie S.p.A
Moka Express (1933)Founded in 1919 by Alfonso Bialetti as a metal and machine workshop to make aluminium products, Bialetti Industrie S.p.A, is a giant Italian kitchen-ware company, famous for its aluminum coffee pot, the Moka Express. In the days, aluminium was not a traditional domestic metal, it was the Bialetti design together with the use of the novel metal which made the coffee-pot something rather special.
Designed in 1933 and based on Luigi De Ponti’s invention, the Moka Express has been an icon since the 1950s. It is the source of nostalgia and affection for many Italians and is an essential and fashionable part of almost every Italian kitchen. While many variations of the Moka have been developed, the Moka Express is a time-honored classic. The coffee pot’s clean classic design with its symmetrical eight-faceted metallic body is easily recognizable and it followed the same design for over 80 years.
