Lineman’s pliers

Klein Tools

Established 1857

Founded in 1857 by Mathias Klein, Klein Tools is an American manufacturer of hand tools for the electrical and telecommunications industries. The first tool Klein made was a pair of side-cutting pliers for a telegraph lineman. As the telegraph and eventually telephone and electrical industries grew, Klein could easily expand its business and added 100 types of pliers in the 1910s. Today, lineman’s pliers are still often called ‘Kleins’.
