Goyard

Established 1853

Founded in 1853 in Paris, and previously doing business as Martin (est. 1792), Goyard is a luxury trunk and leather goods maker. Goyard is the oldest such organization in business, predating its main competitor, Louis Vuitton, by one year. Through the years, Goyard has been a favourite with celebrities and many illustrious artists, whose names can be found in Goyard’s filing cabinet.

Goyard’s iconic canvas, the goyardine, contributed to the success. Designed in 1892 and the first in its kind, the signature canvas proved a true technical revolution at a time. It was soft, durable and it aged beautifully, when other trunk-makers were using plain linen cloth. Due to the very difficult printing technique used during the manufacturing process, the overall effect is absolutely unique, and near impossible to counterfeit.
