Swiss Railway clock (1944), Hans HilfikeDesigned in 1944 by Hans Hilfike and manufactured by Mobatime for the Swiss Federal Railways, the Swiss Railway clock is an icon of modern design. In 1953, Hilfiker updated the clock by adding a red second hand in the shape of a railway signaling disc.
The clock is part of the permanent collection of the Design Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, but rose to fame when it was licensed for use on iPads and iPhones. A licensed clock for office or domestic use is manufactured by Mondaine.
